During your retreat you will be cared for & supported by a dedicated retreat manager & her health & wellbeing team of experienced and very well qualified expert yoga teachers, pilates coaches, personal trainers, meditation guide, counselor, life coach, nutritionist, plus our amazing private chef, transfer team and the retreat venue support staff…. and of course our fabulous spa team, which comprises of 5 hand-picked beauty, massage & holistic therapists all of whose job it is to transform you mind body & soul during your time at the retreat…

Your lovely yoga teachers:

Forward bendI first sampled yoga in 1996 in England. I was then seduced by this ancient practice many years later in Thailand and India. Though it wasn’t until 2005 that my dedicated relationship with yoga really began. I returned to the UK, after five years of working and travelling abroad. Greeted by the miserable weather and sad looking faces in London. Whilst on the tube an advert for HOT yoga grabbed my attention and seemed the perfect thing to brighten up my existence and keep me physically fit.

During these three years of intense hot yoga, practicing every day, I began to see changes in my physical body. Having been told I should have an operation on my knees in my twenties, I surprised myself by running three marathons in succession. Bikram yoga supported not only my physical training, but also the mental training that is necessary for completing a marathon.

Yoga has transformed my life and assisted me to stay young and fresh in both body and mind. Over the years I have studied Bikram yoga, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow and Kundalini. For my teacher training I chose to study with Shivananda Yoga Vedanta as their course is highly valued. I had the privilege of successfully completing my training in the Himalayan Mountains of India, where the roots of yoga were born.

As well as yoga I teach meditation & mindfulness classes… these practices have brought me peace in my heart & joy in my soul & I wish to bring the same to you…

I started on my learning path towards Yoga during a new stage of my live when I was living in London.
My first Yoga experience was with Ashtanga Vinyasa , and after several years discovering its great benefits and practicing with different teachers, in 2004 I decided to go deeper into the teachings of Yoga by joining a teacher’s course at The Yoga Center in Madrid.

After I qualified and began teaching and learning more and more about the benefits that yoga gave to my students, the practice encouraged me to try different types of yoga, so in 2008 I decided to try a different approach to yoga called Yoga Therapy, which I studied with Doctor Miguel Fraile. Yoga therapy is ideal for those who are less flexible, have health issues or are recovering from an accident or illness, and so now I teach two types of yoga depending on the requirements of my students .
Yoga is just one word for a practice that embraces many types and styles, there are many approaches to it and each individual person may choose what is most suitable for them personally, their health and well-being…

Your Personal Trainer’s:

claire2I believe that my background as a teacher has helped to give me a unique approach to personal training. Over the years I have helped many people both at the retreat & with ongoing at home support to improve their health, achieve their goals & recover from injury. I feel strongly that knowledge is the way forward for the guests that I work with, & I always take the opportunity to teach whilst training or treating them in order that they can take new skills away with them & better manage their own health & fitness in the future.

My approach is always about balance… variety & being able to challenge your body. I am a great believer in interval & resistance training, core strength & correct posture- all of these aspects will be taught & practiced in your group or private personal training sessions with me whilst you are at the retreat & if you choose to continue with me once you have returned home… You will be able to return home with a clear easy plan of how to improve your health & fitness, working out at home, outside, at the gym, or incorporating your favorite sport…your time with me will be challenging but enjoyable & it will deliver results…

I have been involved in the fitness industry for most of my life from life guard, fitness instructor to manager for a health club, but my true passion is as a personal trainer… I absolutely love to see the amazing transformations made by our guests at the retreat…
Over the years I have worked with many interesting people, from Olympic athletes to movie stars, all of whom needed professional assistance to achieve their objectives, & with their hard work plus my help, advice & support together we have achieved great results. To each & every class & activity at the retreat I will bring my knowledge, hard work ethic & infectious enthusiasm & I look forward to working with you in the very near future…

I originally trained & worked for many years as a nurse, but I have always had a very keen interest in health & wellness, I have played every sport you can think of & I was a ballet dancer from age 6. I was born in the beautiful region of Southern Germany, and I lived over 20 years in efficiency driven Switzerland, but now I enjoy living in lovely sunny Spain. I have studied and trained in different parts on this planet, and I was from my very earliest years, fascinated by movement and music, from the dance floor, aerobic room, the hard core body building cellar, runs, bike rides to the squash courts I have always questioned why certain movements feel better, look better and achieve better results than others.

Pilates offers the body, functional precision, correct timing, open-minded observation, natural re- and progressions and a dose of laughter from time to
time, and of course finally the important moments after the class has ended: learning how to integrate Pilates into every day life.

I can wholeheartedly say that effective and responsible exercise is the foundation to a better lifestyle no matter where you live and no matter what your age, level of fitness, or ability you have.

I have built a high quality, referral based practice over the past 10 years… I specialise in complex physical injuries and associated syndromes, I have over time treated many international sports men & women very successfully. I work in both the orthopedic and neurological fields & am highly skilled in treating clients with long standing health issues with profound and sustainable results by understanding and approaching the body as a system and a living human being, treating clients in a holistic and complementary way. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in physiotherapy from the private University of Applied Sciences Thim van der Laan, Nieuwegein, The Netherlands (2004). Improved scientific approaches by a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy Sciences (2006/2007), consortium: Thim van der Laan, Technical University of Lisboa, The Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium. My old job in the UK was as the Sales Director of a PLC, this was a highly stressful job which meant that for me exercising and eating healthily came a very poor second to pretty much everything else!. My personal epiphany came in 2003 when I decided that enough was finally enough & I needed a different way of life…

The first thing I needed was a holiday… I wanted to go somewhere that would help me to regain a little fitness, detox my body naturally, re-acquaint me with healthy eating & to restore my mental health too, but much as I tried I could not find a retreat that appealed to me.

So… I came up with the concept for my own retreat…& with a huge amount of help advice & support from some truly great friends, who I am so pleased to say are now also part of our team, we opened the doors to our luxury well-being retreat…

Today, it is my job & my absolute pleasure to make sure that your stay at our retreat is everything that you expected & more. I will be available daily to answer questions, offer advice & assistance even if it is just for a chat & tea, to book you a therapy or massage or adjust your meal plan with our chef!

Over the years at the retreat I have shared my knowledge & experience with hundreds of guests from all walks of life throughout the world, helping them to improve their lifestyle & nutritional balance in a practical step by step way.

I hold a MSC in Psychotherapy. I am also a qualified senior counselor in person centred counseling and registered with the British Association for Counseling and Psychotherapy.

I work with a wide range of ages from 7-80 covering a wide range of issues including:-
Depression, anxiety, eating problems, addictions, bereavement, relationship problems,
abuse and trauma from childhood and post-traumatic stress disorder”.

I am a Biologist and a practitioner of Natural Medicine, I am a qualified Naturopath, Homeopath, Herbalist and Nutritionist…  I am passionate about natural medicine & I look forward to meeting you either at my retreat workshop or if you prefer in a private 1-2-1 session….

I first became interested in Complementary and Alternative Therapies whilst living in Santa Fe, New Mexico…Here I studied with a Herbalist, went wild crafting into the Sangre De Cristo mountains and prepared herbal medicines from indigenous herbs. I also worked in a homeopathic pharmacy preparing medicines. My passion for Natural Therapies was ignited and as a consequence, I decided to move to Sydney, Australia to study at the prestigious Australasian College of Natural Therapies…here I took a 4-year, full time Naturopathy course that encompassed Homeopathy, Herbal Medicine and Nutrition. I have also studied sub modalities including Bach Flower Remedies, Iridology, Shiatsu Massage, Tissue Mineral Therapy and Counselling….the course also offered a solid grounding in the medical sciences & I qualified in 1998 from the ACNT, as a Naturopath, Homeopath, Medicinal Herbalist, Nutritionist and Remedial Massage Therapist and as qualified Biologist having completed a three-year Biological Science (Hons) Degree Course.

During a naturopathic consultation, I will ask many questions about your physical and emotional health and your lifestyle in an attempt to identify the root cause of any health problems you may be experiencing. The treatment will involve diet and lifestyle advice, herbal medicine, nutritional supplementation, homeopathy and Bach flower remedies will be recommended where needed. At the end of the consultation you will be provided with tailor-made directions to follow regarding your journey to optimum health.

I always had a great passion for cooking even as a child, this led me naturally to catering college and to becoming a full time professional chef. I have now been in the catering industry for over 25 years and enjoyed working in varying establishments, from gastro pubs to Rosette awarded restaurants. I have also had the honour and priviledge to cook for the Queen…You gain knowledge from every kitchen you work in and every chef you work with and you are always learning, and that’s one of the things I really love about my job. I am a father of two rapidly growing boys, & so I know first hand exactly how important it is to fuel bodies with great, fresh healthy food & the importance in making the right healthy food choices. In Spain we have great fresh & flavoursome local produce to use as our ingredients & so… I can’t wait for you to come & enjoy the special super healthy & delicious menu we have created for you at the retreat…
